Developing Homeshare in Northern Ireland

A series of workshops aimed at organisations interested in delivering Homeshare in Northern Ireland.

Homeshare brings together people with spare rooms and those who are happy to chat and lend a hand around the house in return for affordable, sociable accommodation. A solution to the issues of increasing loneliness and isolation for older people and unaffordable rental accommodation many younger people.

You know the concept and you can see the benefits, maybe you’ve read our feasibility study commissioned by the Department for Communities and you attended our event in Belfast in November? You might have met with us following that or gone away thinking about how Homeshare could fit within your organisation? Well now’s the time for action…

Homeshare UK is delivering a series of workshops and 1:1 support for those organisations that would be interested in designing and delivering a Homeshare service in Northern Ireland. The 3 workshops will look at:

  • What is Homeshare – a general overview and your chance to ask questions and get a full understanding of the current model, safeguarding procedures and financial models
  • How would Homeshare work in Northern Ireland – a chance to work in depth at looking how the model could be adapted for your organisation and the people that would benefit in Northern Ireland
  • Partnership and Funding – putting research into practice, who will deliver Homeshare, financial planning and bid writing
  • 1:1 sessions with organisations on practicalities of setting and running a scheme

These workshops are free to attend and will take place in a central Belfast location TBC

Suggested dates are:

Workshops 1 and 2 – Wednesday 29th May 9:45am-4pm

Workshop 3 – Tuesday 26th June 9:45am-4pm

1:1 sessions – to be arranged
