The 2024-25 state of Homeshare report from the Homeshare UK Network shows that Homeshare is continuing to grow, with matches increasing by 54% over the past year.

In 2024–25, eight Homeshare organisations reported 91 matches, up from 59 the previous year. Homeshare brings together two people to share a home, offering companionship, practical help and overnight reassurance in exchange for affordable accommodation.

The report highlights the difference Homeshare makes to people’s lives. 70% of householders said they felt reassured by having someone in their home overnight, and half said Homeshare helped them remain living at home.

One of the report’s featured stories is Beryl and Aruna’s. After being diagnosed with dementia, Beryl was matched through Homeshare West with Aruna, whose calm presence and companionship brought renewed confidence and peace of mind to Beryl and her family.

Homeshare also benefits homesharers, offering an affordable place to live at a time of rising housing costs, alongside the opportunity to build meaningful relationships.

The Homeshare UK Network, facilitated by Shared Lives Plus, brings together organisations committed to safe, well-supported Homeshare arrangements and growing the model across the UK.
